MPA has activated salvage tugs to recover the sunken vessel.
A Malaysia-registered tanker, the Silver Sincere, sunk in Singapore waters off Pedra Branca on Jan. 12.
The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) was alerted to a distress call at about 3:40pm as the tanker was taking in water, MPA said in a statement on Jan. 12.
The vessel has since sunk.
An Indonesia-registered freighter, directed by MPA to render assistance, safely recovered all eight crew members from the vessel's liferafts.
MPA added that all crew members were healthy and disembarked at Batu Ampar, Indonesia.
MPA said it deployed its craft along with the Republic of Singapore Navy and the Singapore Police Coast Guard as part of the search and rescue efforts.
MPA has activated salvage tugs for the vessel recovery phase. Oil spill response craft have also been activated as a precaution.
