Starting from Jan. 8, 2025, Singaporeans who are going to the UK will need to apply for and obtain an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) beforehand.

Required even if you are transiting in the UK

The ETA costs 10 pounds (S$17) and is required regardless of the mode of the transport used, be it by flight, sea or land, such as through the rail tunnel connecting the UK and France.

In addition, passengers who are changing flights in the UK without entering the country must also apply for an ETA.

If they are travelling within a group, each person must also apply separately.

Travellers will then be informed via email about their application status.

According to the UK government's website, applying for an ETA will usually take three working days.

The ETA is valid for two years and allows for short-term visits that last up to six months.

Applications for the ETA opened on Nov. 27, 2024.
