A video put up on social media on Jan. 9, 2024 showed a Singapore traffic police on motorcycle chasing after a motorcyclist with a pillion rider along the Kranji Expressway (KJE) towards the Bukit Timah Express (BKE) slip road.

The motorcyclist with the pillion rider could be seen swerving erratically on their bike as they entered the slip road with the traffic police giving chase.

Both bikes cut across the chevron markings.

Seconds later while approaching a bend along the slip road, the pillion rider could be seen falling off the motorcycle and landing on the road, while the traffic police continued to chase the motorcyclist.

The onscreen caption read: "Then the guy who fell ran into the forest."

The video has been watched more than 311,000 times in slightly over a day.

Police statement

In response to Mothership's queries, the Singapore police said on Jan. 10 at 10:40pm that the motorcyclist has been arrested, while efforts to trace the pillion rider are ongoing:

On Jan. 6, 2024 at 11:30am, a traffic police officer signalled for a motorcyclist carrying a pillion rider to stop along KJE to conduct a routine check.

The motorcyclist instead sped off for a distance before his pillion rider jumped off the motorcycle along the BKE slip road into Bukit Panjang Road and fled on foot.

The 22-year-old male motorcyclist subsequently self-skidded along Dairy Farm Road and was arrested for driving without valid licence, driving without valid insurance, dangerous driving and failing to stop when ordered by a police officer in uniform.

Efforts are underway to trace the pillion rider.

Police investigations are ongoing.
