"Loved and respected"

Speaking to a Lianhe Zaobao reporter on Jan. 6, Mok shared that she was feeling stable, but tired as she had not slept since 6am on Jan. 5.

Mok also shared that her father had already been unwell when she penned a touching essay for the Chinese news site for Father's Day in 2024.

In the article, she wrote that her father a former air force officer had given her lots of encouragement when she decided to pursue a career in the entertainment industry after switching from a corporate job.

"He would ask everyone to support and vote for me during the Star Awards," Mok wrote in the essay. "Even if I didn't win, he would comfort me by saying that at least I still had a job."

He also doted on her as a child, citing examples of how he was "never too strict" and used to prepare soft-boiled eggs for her.

Mok also recalled a particular incident when the family dog had been ill, and the pair had rushed it to the vet.

Unfortunately, the dog passed on.

"When my father saw the dog's body, he said he was going outside," Mok wrote. "I was angry and asked myself: how could he be so heartless?"

However, it was only when she went out to check on him, that she found him crying.

"After the dog passed, he said he could not get used to it, that no one accompanied him to watch television, and would sometimes shed tears."

The late Mok's wake is being held at Block 918A Hougang Avenue 9.

The cortege will leave for Mandai Crematorium Hall 1 on Jan. 9 at 11:45am, and the cremation will be conducted at 12:45pm.
