Full-time National Servicemen (NSFs) going through basic military training were treated to a special festive menu for Chinese New Year festivities.
The Basic Military Training Centre (BMTC) posted the meal NSFs enjoyed on Pulau Tekong on Facebook on Jan. 28.
The meal featured baked chicken with lemongrass and coriander and steamed fish with ginger and lemon, which BMTC said symbolised luck and prosperity.
In addition, NSFs were given stir-fried xiao pei chye with abalone and mushroom, braised tang hoon with crabmeat and tau kee soup.
For dessert, they were given two oranges and pineapple tarts.
Numerous comments noted how good the food was, especially compared to their time.

In 2023 for Chinese New Year, the NSFs had a big piece of duck leg baked with lemongrass and coriander, pepper brown rice, steamed fish with ginger and lemon, and fried vegetables with mock abalone and mushrooms.
