2 S'porean men, 50 & 59, arrested in Pasir Ris & Chinatown, over S$254,000 worth of drugs seized
Forced entry into the residential unit in Chinatown was conducted.
Drugs estimated to be worth more than S$254,000 were seized in two separate operations by the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) on Jan. 9, 2025.
Two men, both Singaporeans, were arrested at residential units located along Upper Cross Street in Chinatown and Pasir Ris Street 71 respectively.
Forced entry conducted
On the morning of Jan. 9, a raid was conducted at a residential unit along Upper Cross Street, shared CNB in a statement.
The suspect, 59, refused to cooperate and forced entry into the unit had to be conducted.
Officers found 1,965g of heroin, 118g of "Ice", two bottles of methadone and various drug utensils.
Cash amounting to S$32,378.26 and a US$1 (S$1.37) coin were seized.
Pasir Ris raid
CNB officers also raided a residential unit in the vicinity of Pasir Ris Street 71 and arrested a 50-year-old Singaporean man on the same morning.
Officers found 1,378g of cannabis, drug utensils and S$7,594.
Cash in various currencies amounting to RM292 (S$89), 3,786,000 rupiah (S$318.17), 20 riyals (S$7.30), and 690 egyptian pounds (S$18.72) were also seized.
Investigations into both cases are currently ongoing.
Penalties
Under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1973, it is an offence for a person to traffic drugs into Singapore.
If a person is found guilty of trafficking more than 15g of diamorphine or “pure heroin”, or more than 250g of methamphetamine, or more than 500g of cannabis, he or she may face the mandatory death penalty.
Investigations into the drug activities of both arrested suspects are ongoing.
