A woman from Singapore lost a bag at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on Dec. 20, 2024. The airport police spent five hours searching for the carry-on bag, and ultimately managed to find it.

Sin Chew Daily reported that the woman, named Wang Huiling (transliteration) flew to KLIA from Japan as she was unable to secure a seat on a direct flight back to Singapore after her business trip.

She accidentally left a carry-on luggage, which contained a USB flash drive containing research, at the airport as the driver who was supposed to pick her up at KLIA "kept rushing" her, causing her to be frazzled while going through security checks.

Wang did not realise that she had left the bag behind until she returned to Singapore.

As the contents of the flash drive are important to her, she decided to return to KLIA the next day to look for the bag she left behind.

Disappointment, then hope

Wang first approached the lost and found counter, where she was met with disappointment as staff shared that they had no such records of a lost item that matched her description.

She then turned to the airline ground staff, who told her to report it to the airport police.

She said that she was "surprised" that airport police took her report "very seriously" and carefully reviewed CCTV footage after she made her report.

They also personally combed through the airport to look for Wang's bag, which was located after five hours of searching.

Wang said she is "deeply moved" by the efforts of the airport staff, whom she named as Norazrin, Siri Tharan, Nanjihan and Amirudi.
