A fire broke out at a three-storey East Coast Road landed property in the wee hours of Jan. 5.
35 residents had to be evacuated by the police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), according to an SCDF Facebook post.
The fire
SCDF firefighters from Kallang Fire Station and Paya Lebar Fire Station responded to the fire at about 12:45am on Jan. 5.
According to the post, the fire had engulfed the first floor of a vacated three-storey semi-detached house when SCDF arrived.
The blaze had also started spreading to the upper floors.
Firefighters conducted forcible entry into the unit and used two water jets to contain the fire, SCDF said.
A combined platform ladder was also deployed for aerial firefighting.
The fire was fully extinguished at about 3am.
As a result, the upper floors of the house sustained smoke and burn damage.
An adjacent unit was also partially affected by the fire.
35 residents evacuated
About 35 residents from neighbouring units were evacuated by the police and SCDF as a precautionary measure.
No injuries were reported, SCDF said.
