Hong Kong singer Eason Chan cancels Bangkok concert in due to 'safety concerns'
Refunds will be provided to those who purchased tickets through official ticketing platforms.
Hong Kong singer Eason Chan has cancelled his concert in Bangkok.
The concert was part of his FEAR and DREAMS World Tour and was meant to take place on Feb. 22, 2025.
Based on the statement released, tickets for the Bangkok stop had sold out back in Dec. 2024.
Reason for cancellation
The concert promoter released a statement on Weibo on Jan. 10 explaining why the concert was cancelled.
In the statement, they shared that the safety of audience members is the organiser and Chan's top priority, and that the decision was made after considering "safety concerns for Chinese citizens and fans from other countries travelling to Thailand".
As a result, they decided to cancel their stop in Bangkok after much internal discussion.
Full refunds will be provided to those that purchased their tickets via official ticketing platforms.
Why the safety concerns
These concerns are apparently due to a Chinese actor going missing near the Thai-Myanmar border.
He has since been found and safety transported back to Bangkok on Jan. 7.
