A dog was found dead at the base of a block of flats at Jurong West Street 74 on Jan. 7.

It was suspected to have been thrown off the block, reported Shin Min Daily News.

The carcass of a medium-sized brown dog was seen lying in a pool of blood on the ground, alongside some scattered clothespins and clothes.

One resident said the laundry he'd hung outside was pulled down by the dog's fall.

"I was out at the time and only learnt of the accident once I came back," he said.

"I realised that my clothes had fallen downstairs, but they were stained with blood, so I didn't want them back."

The dog's carcass was covered with a white cloth.

Police officers were at the scene.

Allegedly thrown

After the incident, residents said police officers went around to their homes to ask if they had seen a brown dog, or heard any strange noises.

Another resident, who gave his name as Lin, said he heard a loud noise.

He looked out of the window and saw the dog falling to the ground, he said.

"[The dog] seemed quite old and died immediately after it fell. It didn't move at all, and it just bled slowly," he recalled.

In response to Mothership's queries, Jessica Kwok, group director of enforcement and investigation at the National Parks Board (NParks), said it is looking into the matter.

"Not all cases of death are related to animal abuse and cruelty," she said.

"We urge the public to not speculate on such incidents and allow investigations to run its proper course."
