CNY-themed trains, buses & stations in S'pore until Feb. 13

You can look forward to a more festive commute in the lead up to Chinese New Year.

Selected buses, trains, and MRT stations will be decked out in Chinese New Year-themed decorations until Feb. 13.

They feature cultural icons like gold ingots, pussy willows, traditional snacks, reunion dinner dishes, and families dressed in festive Chinese New Year outfits.

You'll also find humorous messages, like “Don’t get tongue-tied with greetingsssss”, that will welcome you into the Year of the Snake.

Selected MRT stations will also feature wall murals that showcase snippets from this year's Chingay parade.

Following the theme of "Joy", the murals show floats inspired by popular local dishes such as chilli crab, nasi lemak and tutu kueh.

If you wish to check out the festive decorations, you can do so on selected buses on services 51, 106, 133, 190, and 851. These bus services ply areas such as Ang Mo Kio, Bukit Batok, Chinatown, Clementi, Queensway, Serangoon, Tiong Bahru and Yishun.

On the rail network, you can drink in the festive vibes at the following train stations:

  • Serangoon (Circle Line)
  • Buona Vista (East-West Line)
  • Bedok (East-West Line)
  • Punggol (North East Line)
  • Bukit Panjang (Downtown Line)
  • Woodlands South (Thomson-East Coast Line)
  • Maxwell (Thomson-East Coast Line)
  • Shenton Way (Thomson-East Coast Line)
  • Marine Parade (Thomson-East Coast Line)

Collaboration between LTA, SCCC, PA, and operators

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) said that this was a collaboration with the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre, People’s Association, along with public transport operators SBS Transit, SMRT, and Tower Transit Singapore.

The LTA said that having themed public transport assets is part of the agency's efforts to "liven up the commuting experience during festive seasons" and "foster a positive commuter culture".
