Car insists on driving against flow of traffic onto Saiboo Street in Robertson Quay area
The vehicle's road tax had expired in April 2024.
A car was seen driving against the flow of traffic in the Robertson Quay area on Jan. 11 at about 10pm.
A Mazda 3 was caught on dashboard camera turning right from Havelock Road into Saiboo Street.
However, instead of keeping left, it proceeded to enter the road that had stationary vehicles waiting to turn right at the t-junction.
The vehicles that were waiting to move off had to make way as the Mazda 3 continued to proceed forward.
It then moved to the left-most lane of the three-lane road and continued driving against the flow of traffic.
A person on a power-assisted bicycle also had to make way for the Mazda 3, and could be seen gesturing at the driver.
Checks online showed that the road tax for the Mazda 3 had already expired in April 2024.
It is an offence to keep or use a vehicle whose road tax has expired.
The penalty includes a fine of up to S$2,000.
The police confirm that a report was lodged and investigations are ongoing.
