850,000 S'pore seniors to receive S$200 to S$300 Assurance Package Seniors' Bonus in Feb. 2025
Singaporeans aged 20 years and below, and 55 years and above, will also receive S$150 MediSave top-ups.
Around 850,000 lower-income Singapore citizens aged 55 years and above will receive S$200 to S$300 from the Assurance Package (AP) Seniors' Bonus come February 2025, said the Ministry of Finance (MOF) on Jan. 15.
Those eligible will receive the AP Seniors' Bonus payout from Feb. 5, via PayNow-NRIC.
Those eligible who opted for GIRO will receive their payout from Feb. 13, while GovCash recipients will receive it from Feb. 21.
To receive it via PayNow, one must link their NRIC to PayNow by Jan. 25, said the ministry.
The cash benefit will apply to seniors living in properties with an annual value of up to S$31,000, and have an assessable income not exceeding S$34,000 (based on Year of Assessment 2023).
MediSave bonus payout
Apart from the AP Seniors' Bonus, two other groups of Singaporeans will also receive a MediSave top-up of S$150 in their CPF accounts.
The two groups are, namely: Singaporeans aged 20 and below, and Singaporeans aged 55 and above.
The payments will be credited automatically on Feb. 11, 2025.
Background
First announced at Budget 2020, the Assurance Package scheme is meant to help offset additional Goods & Services Tax (GST) expenses.
The most recent payout was just last month in December 2024, when 2.9 million Singaporeans received between S$200 and S$600 in cash.
Payouts have been disbursed over the last three years, with 2025 being the fourth year.
One last payout will be made in 2026.
Meant to alleviate the cost of living pressures for Singaporean households and provide more support for lower to middle income families, an additional S$1.9 billion enhancement to the AP was announced at Budget 2024 by Prime Minister Lawrence Wong.
How do I know if I'm eligible?
For both the AP Seniors' and MediSave bonus payout, no action is required to receive these payments.
Eligible recipients will be notified via SMS after the benefits are credited in February.
Those without a Singpass-registered mobile number, or who do not receive an SMS, will be notified via mail to the address stated on their NRIC.
All AP MediSave recipients aged 16 and below will receive a letter addressed to their parents or guardian, informing them of the benefit received in their child's CPF account.
Citizens can check their eligibility on the govbenefits website or contact 1800-2222-888 for more information.
