What should have been a carefree reunion dinner ended in stress and disappointment.
A customer was left without food for nearly three hours, as the company delivered her order well past the scheduled delivery time.
A Mothership reader shared that she ordered from local caterer Gourmetz for her reunion dinner on Jan. 28, 2025.
However, a few hours passed, and her food was still not delivered.
After numerous unanswered calls to the catering company, she had little choice but to order McDonald's for her reunion dinner at 9pm.
Ordered a month in advance
The reader told Mothership that she ordered Gourmetz's "Longevity Crave Case" online and paid S$338 in Dec. 2024, more than a month before Chinese New Year.
Gourmetz's salesperson then confirmed her order on Dec. 20, 2024.
She scheduled the order to be delivered between 5:45 and 6:45 pm on Jan. 28, 2025.
When the day came, the food did not arrive at the scheduled time, and she began calling the company to enquire about her delivery. However, she apparently could not reach anyone, even after trying for about two hours.
Ultimately, as she was rushing home from the hospital, she decided to get food for her guests from the closest place to her: McDonald's.
Food eventually arrived, close to "safe consumption" time
The reader shared that her food order eventually arrived, but just 40 minutes before the "safe consumption" time.
According to the Singapore Food Agency, the "consume by" time should be no later than four hours after the food is cooked or ready to eat.
The reader added that she did not bother consuming the meal and disposed of it as the sauces or soup had leaked from the warmer bag.
She finally heard back from Gourmetz's salesperson at 11:40pm, who said they had been involved in an accident while riding as a pillion on a motorcycle.
The salesperson said, "the problem will be fixed when [they] get back to work on Friday".

"It was incredibly frustrating to call multiple times only to reach an unresponsive number. Not to mention the embarrassment of having guests wait for nearly three hours, enduring hunger, only to receive fast food," the reader said.
Not the only one
A quick look at the comment section on Gourmetz's latest Facebook post showed that numerous people apparently encountered similar difficulties.
Many commented that they waited hours for their food to arrive, and were unsuccessful in reaching out to the company as their calls did not go through or were declined.
