A recycling bin at the ground floor of Block 505C Yishun Street 51 caught fire on Nov. 30, 2024 at about 11pm.

The inside of the blue recycling bin was seen ablaze, which produced a billowing white smoke.

A video of the incident was shared online, which showed residents using buckets of water to put out the fire.

Some of those involved in extinguishing the flames included a child, who was seen carrying a bucket of water and walking briskly towards the recycling bin.

By this time, the fire appeared to have been put out.

In response to Mothership's queries, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they were alerted to the fire on Saturday at about 11:15pm.

The fire, which involved contents contained in a recycling bin at the ground floor, was extinguished by members of the public using buckets of water before SCDF’s arrival, they said.

There were no reported injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
