It was a good year for Yip, who won two gold medals in the women's 50m and 100m backstroke events during the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Yip shared photos of her fiancé getting down on one knee.

"He had prepared a whole speech but while down on one knee, nerves took over, his mind was a blank and he couldn’t remember a word of it," she wrote.

"But it didn’t matter to me. This man so openly and generously expresses his love at every chance in our lives that at this moment, he did not need any words for me to understand him," she added.

"With you, I can be softer yet more steady. I have space to be myself. I feel safe and seen. I am unequivocally happy."

Yip also shared photos of her and her fiancé seemingly giving a toast to the occasion.

"We are in our fiancé era….time for us to plan a party!"
