Xie Shaoguang to star in Mediacorp Chinese series in late 2025 after almost 20 years
He's back.
In September 2024, Xie Shaoguang announced his return to showbiz.
This marks about 19 years since he left the industry in 2005.
According to a post by Mediacorp's talent management arm The Celebrity Agency (TCA), he is "poised to take on opportunities both in front of and behind the camera".
In December 2024, Mediacorp announced in a press release that the actor is set to make his comeback on the small screen in late 2025.
Called "Last Hurrah", Xie will take on the role of Lin Huoyan, a wealthy but lonely tycoon. He will act alongside Chen Han Wei, who will play the role of Lan Shuimiao a humble retiree surrounded by love.
Here's the series synopsis:
"Brought together by their respective battles with terminal cancer, the two form an unlikely partnership, finding purpose in their final days by helping others confront death with dignity and grace.
As they dedicate themselves to this mission, the duo is drawn into a spectrum of life’s trials, from a young woman grappling with an untimely diagnosis to a family torn by the inevitably of loss. Each story is inspired by real events and threaded by universal themes of love and loss, taking audiences on a powerful journey that offers a poignant, yet ultimately healing reflection on the beauty of life, even in its most fragile moments."
The series will also star Chantalle Ng and Desmond Ng in leading roles, and supported by Xiang Yun, Aileen Tan, Jeremy Chan, Jernelle Oh and more.
The series is currently in pre-production, with production set to take place from February to May 2025.
