Travellers arrested before flight after allegedly stealing over S$2,500 of items at Changi Airport
The arm of the law reached faster than their flight.
A pair of 22-year-olds got into trouble with the law after allegedly swiping over S$2,500 worth of perfume bottles from Changi Airport shops.
According to a police release on Dec. 5, the foreign travellers were caught on camera stealing a box of perfume from a shop in the transit area on Nov. 25.
The product was valued at S$162.
Further investigations revealed that the duo had also allegedly paid similar "visits" to other outlets on the same day.
They had supposedly stolen nine other perfume bottles from various retail outlets amounting to over S$2,500.
Unable to escape on flight
The pair were arrested before they could depart on their flight from the airport.
"Offenders should not think that they can evade capture by quickly boarding a flight," stated the police.
The suspects will be charged in court on Dec. 6 for their alleged crimes.
If found guilty of theft in dwelling, they could face up to seven years in jail and a fine.
