Sora Ma, mother of 4-month-old baby boy, shares her husband passed away 6 months ago

Sora Ma revealed on Dec. 11, 2024, that her husband, who she'd been together with for 11 years, passed away six months ago.

The Singapore-based Malaysian actress had announced the birth of her baby boy, Skye, just four months prior.

Husband's death was "sudden and completely unexpected"

In a heartbreaking message on Instagram, she shared that "there was no illness, no warning" and his death "was sudden and completely unexpected," catching her completely "off guard".

"During these months, I've been through home renovations, giving birth, confinement, moving, becoming a first-time mom, and raising our child — all things I never imagined I'd have to face alone," she wrote.

"But I've been learning, step by step, to handle everything on my own."

Ma had mourned the loss of her partner all these months and only recently began to have the courage to watch a video his friends had made for him.

"I thought I was ready, but the truth is, you're never truly prepared to face something like this," she said, adding that "grief has its ups and downs."

"I've even questioned myself—how could someone as independent as me become so fragile, so weak?'

However, she wrote that as time passed, her baby helped her find the strength to continue.

"While life took him away from me, it also gave me another life-our baby, Skye. He is the continuation of our love and the reason I find strength to keep going."

She added that her husband's friends and family have been "so selfless, supportive, and loving," and they gave her the strength to endure the hardest chapter in her life.

"Without you, I'm not sure I could have made it this far. This kindness and support will stay with me forever, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for protecting me and giving me the space to handle everything."

Ma also apologised to her friends for not having the courage to share the news with them in person, and she hoped they could understand her silence during this time.

"Moving forward, I will do my best to be the person I need to be, and most importantly, to be the best mum I can for Skye. I'll continue to learn, to grow, and to live my life as best as I can," Ma promised.

"Thank you all for your care and understanding," she said.

The actress requested privacy for her family and hoped the situation wouldn't bring them more pain.

Ma also apologised to her family for all the worry she caused them during this time, adding, "I will be okay."

Background

It was previously reported that Ma's husband was a Singaporean businessman in his 40s.

The two met on the night of the Star Awards in 2012, where she was introduced to him by a mutual friend during a meal post-ceremony.

The pair started dating in March 2013 and got engaged in 2018.

They tied the knot in 2022.
