Singaporeans in South Korea are advised to avoid areas with large crowds and protests, as more protests may occur following the country's National Assembly's failure to impeach President Yoon Suk Yeol.
A Facebook post was uploaded by the Singapore Embassy in Seoul on Dec. 7, advising Singaporeans in Seoul to stay safe and vigilant while in the city.
Singaporeans are also advised to avoid areas with large crowds and protests.
The Facebook post also highlighted Yeouido and Gwanghwamun as possible places where more protests may break out.
Singaporeans in South Korean are also urged to keep up with local news and follow the instructions of local authorities.
Singaporeans in South Korea are recommended to eRegister with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) if they have yet to do so.
Background
195 of the National Assembly's 300 lawmakers voted in favour of Yoon's impeachment on Dec. 7.
200 was needed for the impeachment motion to pass.
Prior to voting, protesters gathered outside Seoul's National Assembly and at multiple locations in the city to call for their president's impeachment.
With Yoon's failed impeachment, demonstrations are expected to continue.
A new impeachment Bill against Yoon is expected to be proposed by the opposition Democratic Party of Korea on Dec. 11 and be put to a vote on Dec. 14.
