S'porean man, 52, dies after visiting Phuket massage parlour
His wife said he had pre-existing health conditions.
A 52-year-old Singaporean tourist died after experiencing breathing difficulties during a visit to a massage parlour in Patong Beach, Phuket on Dec. 7.
Police colonel Charlermchai Hernsawat, superintendent of Patong police station, told Thai media that the incident happened at around 11pm on Dec. 7.
Charlermchai said the massage parlour provided first aid when the Singaporean tourist, surnamed Lee, showed signs of distress.
Staff and emergency responders performed cardio-pulmonary resuscitation on Lee.
However, he was pronounced dead upon arrival at Patong Hospital.
Thairath reported that the man had a 45-minute oil massage before falling asleep and snoring.
When he became unresponsive, the massage parlour called the police.
Lee's wife told Khaosod English that she did not suspect foul play given her husband's pre-existing health conditions.
She said he led a sedentary lifestyle, rarely exercised and did not rest enough.
Her husband had also drank beer before visiting the massage parlour where he was a regular customer, she said.
The deceased's family has declined an autopsy, Matichon Online reported.
They have asked for his body to be brought back to Singapore for religious ceremonies.
