Rat in Siglap condo vending machine, thorough disinfection carried out
Its unknown how it got in.
A rat was spotted navigating the shelves of a Gardenia vending machine in a Siglap condominium recently.
Gardenia told Mothership that the products in the machine were discarded, and the machine was disinfected.
The machine was located at the Fernwood Towers condominium in Siglap.
How the rodent entered the machine remains a mystery.

As the rat crawled around on the shelves laden with bread products, a loaf of bread fell.
"He looks so guilty," a voice said off-screen.
The rat was seen leaping towards the bottom of the machine several times.
It also pawed at the machine's glass panel as if looking for an escape.
Replying to a comment, the user said that the rat eventually escaped when a staff opened the machine to restock the bread inside.
Other online users said in jest that it would have been akin to a "buffet" or "happy hour" for the rat.
"The real 'Hunt the Mouse' game in Singapore", another wrote.
Gardenia statement
In response to Mothership's enquiries, a Gardenia spokesperson said it was an isolated incident.
The spokesperson said that all products in the vending machine were immediately discarded, and the machine was thoroughly disinfected to eliminate potential contamination.
It was then left to dry for three days before being subjected to an additional round of general cleaning.
"Once these measures were completed, we resumed bread supply to the machine," the spokesperson added.
To prevent any recurrence, a protective casing has been installed to safeguard the machine against pests and rodents.
Gardenia said that it remains fully committed to upholding food safety and hygiene standards at all times.
"We deeply value your trust and support as we continuously strive to improve our processes to serve our valued customers with the highest quality products," the spokesperson concluded.
