Prime Minister Lawrence Wong has tested positive for Covid-19 on Dec. 3, 2024.
PM Wong, who is also finance minister, said he woke up that morning with a bad sore throat.
He posted a photo of his test result on social media, saying that it was his first time testing positive.
"Initially I thought it might just be a normal flu bug. But I just took a test to be sure. Turns out, I’ve finally succumbed to Covid after all these years!" he wrote.
He noted that he'd just returned from a recent stretch of overseas work trips.
Feeling fine, will isolate while working from home
PM Wong said he was "feeling fine overall", and would self-isolate while working from home.
He also had a message for Singaporeans travelling in the upcoming holiday season.
"Remember to stay updated on your flu shots and vaccinations," he said.
PM Wong added that those who feel unwell should wear a mask and "take the necessary precautions" to protect themselves and those around them.
"Stay safe, and happy holidays to all!" he added.
