NTU student, 21, found dead at resident hall

A 21-year-old Nanyang Technological University (NTU) student was found lying motionless at a resident hall on Dec. 3 morning.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) paramedics upon their arrival, an NTU spokesperson told Mothership.

Police statement

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) confirmed with media that they received a call for assistance at 64 Nanyang Crescent at around 7:45am on Dec. 3.

The address corresponds to that of Tanjong Hall, which is listed as an undergraduate housing option on NTU's website.

Based on preliminary investigations, the police do not suspect foul play.

Police investigations are ongoing.

NTU statement

A Nanyang Technological University spokesperson told Mothership that the university is assisting with investigations.

"We are providing counselling support to the student's family and friends during this difficult time," added the spokesperson.
