Man, 36, found with folding knife in pocket at St. Joseph's Church, believed to be handyman
The man was discovered by vigilant church security volunteers.
A 36-year-old man was found with a folding knife in his pocket at St Joseph's Church on Dec. 1 at about 12:35pm, the police said in a press release.
The man, who is a regular church attendee, was discovered by "vigilant" church security volunteers.
Upon the police's arrival, the man was compliant and his knife was seized.
According to the police, he is believed to be a handyman, and "purportedly forgot" to keep the folding knife with his other tools after an earlier job.
He is currently assisting police with investigations, which are ongoing.
On Nov. 9, 2024, priest Christopher Lee was stabbed in the same church, located along 620 Upper Bukit Timah Road.
The weapon used in the incident was also a foldable knife.
Lee suffered from a 8cm-long laceration on his tongue, a 3cm cut on his upper lip, and a 4cm cut in the corner of his mouth.
The perpetrator, a 37-year-old Singaporean Sinhalese man named Basnayake Keith Spencer, was charged with voluntarily causing grievous hurt with a dangerous weapon.
