The victim was a mother of three.
A 42-year-old man has been charged with murder in the wake of a knife attack at a Kovan hardware store on Dec. 10, 2024.
The Chinese national, Du Zaixing, allegedly caused the death of a 34-year-old woman, Dao Thi Hong.
He allegedly stabbed her multiple times with a knife during an argument at the store at 210 Hougang Street 21.
She later died in the hospital.
Du appeared in court via a video-link on Dec. 12, reported CNA.
He will be remanded for one week, with permission to be taken out for investigations.
His case will resume on Dec. 19. The offence of murder carries the death penalty.
Victim had 3 children
The victim was reportedly an employee at the hardware store where the attack took place.
She'd come from Vietnam to Singapore to work, and was married with three children, Lianhe Zaobao and The Straits Times reported.
Her eldest is a teenage daughter, while her youngest is a seven-year-old girl, a friend said.
A fruit seller working nearby told reporters that Dao was a "good person" who came to Singapore to provide for her family and parents.
Two of her friends were seen burning incense for her behind the store, the day after she died.
