Police arrest man, 24, after he allegedly attacked man, 25, with knife in Jalan Besar on Christmas Eve
The suspect was arrested on the same day in a residential unit at Keat Hong Close.
The Singapore police have arrested a 24-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons.
On Dec. 24, 2024 at 3:40am, the police were alerted to a case where a 25-year-old man was allegedly assaulted by a 24-year-old man with a knife along Jalan Besar Road.
After the assault, the younger man fled the scene.
The older man suffered laceration wounds and was later conveyed conscious to the hospital.
Preliminary investigations revealed that both men were known to each other and they had a dispute previously.
The identity of the suspected was established with the aid of surveillance and police cameras.
The suspect was arrested on the same day in a residential unit at Keat Hong Close.
During the arrest of the 24-year-old man, another 19-year-old female was also arrested for the offence of harbouring an offender.
The 24-year-old man will be charged in court on Dec. 26 with voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons.
The offence carries a life imprisonment jail term, for a term which may extend to 15 years, and shall also be liable to a fine or to caning.
The police said they would also like to remind the public that it is an offence to carry an offensive and/or scheduled weapon in a public place otherwise than for a lawful purpose.
The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to five years and at least six strokes of the cane.
