Hock Kee Coffee, a food stall at Block 682 Hougang Avenue 4, has been temporarily suspended for two weeks from Dec. 3 to 16, the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) announced.

The suspension under the Points Demerit System was the result of the licensee accumulating 12 demerit points over a 12-month period.

Hock Kee Coffee was fined a total of S$800 for two offences.

The offences, selling food that contained foreign matter and the failure to register an assistant, incurred six demerit points each.

Food handlers, officers must reattend food safety courses

SFA said all food handlers working in the suspended premises would be required to re-attend and pass the WSQ Food Safety Course Level 1 before they can resume work.

All food hygiene officers working there, if any, will need to re-attend and pass the WSQ Food Safety Course Level 3.

In the release, SFA reminded food business operators to observe good food and personal hygiene practices, such as engaging only registered food handlers and ensuring the upkeep and maintenance of the premises.

"SFA will not hesitate to take firm action against anyone found to be in violation of the Environmental Public Health Act," the agency said.

SFA also advised members of the public who come across poor food safety practices not to patronise such outlets.

Public can provide feedback via SFA's online feedback form (https://www.sfa.gov.sg/feedback) or to call SFA at 68052871 to furnish more details for follow-up investigations.
