The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) confirmed with Mothership that at 12:35am, it was alerted to the fire at a ninth-floor unit at Block 3 Ghim Moh Road.

The fire, which involved contents of a living room, was extinguished by SCDF firefighters using a water jet.

About 200 people from the affected block were evacuated by the police as a precautionary measure.

There were no reported injuries, SCDF said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Support will be given to affected homes

Holland-Bukit Timah GRC Member of Parliament (MP) Christopher de Souza shared a picture of the aftermath taken during a site visit, in a Dec. 11 Facebook post.

The flat's interior appeared to be badly damaged from the fire.

de Souza said in his post that 12 floors of residents were evacuated safely, and that there were no casualties.

de Souza added that he has requested SCDF to brief him on the findings from its investigation.

"In the meantime, maximum support will be given to all affected homes, including the provision of interim housing, where needed," de Souza wrote.
