A photograph, reportedly of football fans in Malaysia after the Dec. 20 0-0 draw with Singapore at the Asean Football Championships, has been circulating online.
In the photo, a group of men could be seen posing with a pair of upside-down Singapore flags.
Some members of the group appeared to be giving the middle finger to the camera.
A Facebook page, titled "Hooligans Culture", shared the photo on Dec. 21 with the caption: "Stolen flag [from] Singapore after match yesterday 👊🏻".
It is unclear if the flag was really stolen.
Malaysia kicked out
The match was played at Bukit Jalil, the home stadium of the Malaysia football team, which ended in a 0-0 draw.
The Lions made it through to the next round of the tournament — the semi-finals — while Malaysia crashed out.
In the wake of this less-than-desirable result, football fans in Malaysia were seen expressing their dissatisfaction in a number of ways.
One video posted to Facebook showed a clash at a train station in Malaysia, where items were thrown and public transport facilities were attacked.
The Singapore team will return to play the semi-finals against Vietnam at Jalan Besar Stadium.
Tickets have sold out, as of 6:30pm on Dec. 22.
Long lines emerged at the stadium as fans queued to get their hands on the coveted tickets.
