Train services on the East-West Line (EWL) between Tampines and Tanah Merah will resume on Tuesday (Dec. 10).

In a Facebook statement on Dec. 9, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said that services will resume from the start of passenger service hours.

Train services between the two stations were affected from Dec. 7 due to track works.

New tracks laid, comprehensive testing done

In its statement, LTA said that train services will resume at the Tanah Merah, Simei, Tampines, Pasir Ris, Expo, and Changi Airport stations.

LTA confirmed that new tracks have been laid to connect the EWL to the East Coast Integrated Depot (ECID), which is a four-in-one depot, integrating three train depots and one bus depot within a single site

"We've completed comprehensive testing, including safety and ultrasonic tests on the tracks, power supply and train signalling systems," the authority added.

It thanked staff, contractors and crowd marshals for their work, and commuters for their patience and understanding during the disruption.

Glad that track works are complete: Chee Hong Tat

In a Facebook on Dec. 9, Transport Minister Chee Hong Tat said that he is "glad" that track works and "rigorous testing" between the stations have been completed one day ahead of schedule.

He added that the ECID, which will open in 2026, will further improve "rail efficiency and resilience".

Chee also thanked public transport employees for "their hard work over the past three days".

These include engineers, technicians and workers who laid the tracks and did thorough planning and testing, bus captains providing shuttle services between the stations, and more than 400 ground staff who were assisting commuters at train stations and shuttle bus boarding points.

"My appreciation to all commuters too for your patience and understanding, and your support for our public transport workers!"
