East Coast households can redeem free set of reusable goodies & enjoy dining discounts
Discounts for some hawkers, eateries and shops.
As part of the East Coast Green Savers initiative, every household with citizens or PRs will be entitled to a set of reusable goodies to kickstart a more sustainable lifestyle.
These different items will also allow East Coast residents to redeem discounts at participating shops and hawkers, ranging from 10 cents to 10 per cent off the final bill for dine-ins.
East Coast Green Savers initiative
Speaking at the launch at Bedok Food Centre, Minister in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) Maliki Osman, who is also a Member of Parliament for East Coast GRC, said the programme was an extension of the East Coast Plan to create a "more caring and green community".
To receive a discount from participating merchants, the East Coast residents must present any of the items from the starter pack.
Residents can collect their packs from Siglap Community Club from Dec. 8 onwards, from 10am to 6pm.
Maliki shared that they currently have about 70 participating merchants at seven different locations, including Changi Village, Ixora, Lucky Valley, Siglap East, and Expo.
He added that residents are encouraged to always carry the starter pack around with them. If they are unable to finish the food when they dine in at eateries, they can use the lunch box to bring back the leftovers.
"This unique initiative addresses two issues that are top of mind — sustainability and cost of living. Tying discounts to use sustainable containers, for example, provides wins all round. We hope that this inspires more environmentally conscious behaviours while supporting local businesses."
