At least 62 people have died in the Jeju Air crash at Muan airport in South Korea on Dec. 29, 2024, Korean news agency Yonhap reported.
The information comes from the firefighting agency. Rescue operations are currently underway at the airport.
According to NewsIS, 25 men and 37 women have died.
Earlier, Yonhap reported that the airplane, which was returning from Bangkok, Thailand, veered off the runway and collided with a fence.
The plane was carrying six crew members and 175 passengers, of whom at least two were Thai nationals.
Acting president Choi Sang Mok has called for all-out efforts for the rescue operations.
