A cyclist, who appeared to be having a dispute with a bus driver, was seen using parking his bicycle in front of service 85 along its route.

A video of the incident was posted onto Facebook group Complaint Singapore on Nov. 26 by user Roy Chiang.

It is unknown at what time this incident happened, and the brief eight-second clip did not show what happened before the argument.

Footage of the incident showed a double-decker bus which had stopped a few metres before Punggol Field junction.

A cyclist, clad in a white singlet and black shorts, was standing next to the driver's window, animatedly talking to the bus driver and gesturing extensively.

He was not wearing a helmet, as Chiang pointed out in the caption, and did not appear to have a helmet with him.

A black bicycle was parked in front of the bus as well.

Commenters unanimous

Netizens who commented on the post unanimously agreed that the cyclist was in the wrong, and slammed him for his actions, which they said caused commuters to be late and inconvenienced.

Go-Ahead Singapore, which operates bus service 85, told Stomp that their preliminary findings revealed that the cyclist had been cycling on the lane next to the bus, when he "abruptly veered into the path of the bus".

"This action compromised the safety of all parties – the cyclist, the bus captain, commuters on board the bus and other road users. Safety is our top priority and we take this incident very seriously."

Go-Ahead also told Stomp that a detailed internal investigation is ongoing.

Mothership has reached out to the bus operator for comment.
