Male driver, 52, allegedly cuts in front of bus & brakes on purpose, causing collision along TPE
The police called it "thuggish behaviour".
A 52-year-old male driver caused an accident along the Tampines Expressway (TPE) towards Changi on Aug. 13, 2024.
The incident took place at about 8:45am, according to a police statement on Dec. 15.
The driver allegedly overtook a bus, cut in front of it, and braked abruptly.
This resulted in the bus crashing into the rear of the car.
The police said that the driver's behaviour was intentional, and called it "thuggish".
"Thuggish" driving
The man was subsequently arrested; he was charged in court on Dec. 16. for dangerous driving.
If found guilty, he could be slapped with a fine up to S$5,000, jailed for up to one year, or both.
Should this not be his first conviction, his fine and sentence could be doubled.
He could also be disqualified from driving all classes of vehicles.
Encouraged to be nice on the roads
The police added that motorists are encouraged to exercise graciousness and patience on the roads:
"The police do not condone such thuggish behaviour on the roads and will not hesitate to take firm action against those who endanger the safety of other road users."
