I visited the new Caltex station in Yishun to try out the new CaltexGO app & claim my S$10 welcome offer
Pumping petrol has become even more convenient with the newest CaltexGO app.
I have been driving for the past two decades in Singapore and I have learnt many things as a driver.
Firstly, knowing roughly where petrol service stations are located greatly reduces the panic of having to search for one when I am close to running out of fuel.
Secondly, staying on the lookout for apps and signing up for loyalty programmes can make fuelling up a breeze and save me some cash in the long run.
Lastly, stumbling upon a new or upgraded petrol service station is always a pleasant surprise, especially when it offers a wide range of amenities like clean restrooms and a well-stocked convenience mart.
This was exactly the case when I discovered that Caltex opened its 26th service station in Singapore at 1 Yishun Street 11, a stone's throw from Yishun MRT station.

As many motorists can attest, being able to do more than just refuelling at the petrol station is a major win as it saves time and money.
Spacious new premises
Operational since Aug. 24, the newest Caltex service station was airy and provided me with a welcome respite from the afternoon sun.
Caltex Yishun has 11 pump islands to serve customers with efficiency.

At all Caltex stations, except Caltex Jalan Buroh, there is little fear of staying parched or hungry – or both.
Stocked with many food and drink offerings, visiting a Caltex station at any time means that you can easily grab a quick bite while refuelling your vehicle, even on late nights when you unexpectedly feel peckish.
There are even hot food options such as steamed buns.
I have come to learn that petrol stations are the best places to get some nourishment, stretch those achy legs and back, and get a restroom break.
Furthermore, your car can just pull up right beside all these facilities.

New CaltexGO app
In addition to the new Yishun service station, Caltex has also relaunched its mobile app, CaltexGO, which has enhanced features and a new user experience.
To enjoy all its latest benefits, new users will just have to download the new app from the App Store and Google Play.
Which was what I did.
Existing customers will just need to uninstall the old version and install the new CaltexGO app to enjoy the latest features.
If you need assistance with the CaltexGO app, Caltex staff behind the counter will be able to provide on-the-spot assistance to queries about the new app.
Current users
Step 1: Tap "Login" on the CaltexGO welcome screen.
Step 2: Log in to your account with your registered email address used for CaltexGO or mobile number. A one-time passcode (OTP) will be sent for verification.
Step 3: Set up your CaltexGO password. This will be your password for logging in to your CaltexGO account.
Step 4: Complete your profile by providing your complete name and birth date.

What to expect for the new CaltexGO app?
With the CaltexGo app ready to go, I had to try out the mobile payment refuelling option, which allows me to pump and pay from the comfort of my car.
How it works is simple.
On the app:
1. Turn on location services and tap on "Pump & Pay"
2. Slide to select pump number
3. Pay with preferred payment method
4. Payment is complete
For those in a rush, this payment option saves time for you, as well as other motorists in line.
You can also check on your fuel spending over time as all payments are tracked digitally.
To make the deal sweeter, I could even onboard my Link Card to earn two Linkpoints with every litre of fuel purchased at Caltex.
Linkpoints earned can then be redeemed for fuel via the app, where 100 Linkpoints are equivalent to S$1.
You can also use your loyalty points earned on the CaltexGO app to participate in the voluntary Carbon Offset Programme, which gives you the option to offset a portion of certain carbon dioxide equivalent emissions with your fuel purchase.
If your birthday is right around the corner, you can look forward to a birthday voucher within the app.

To welcome users to the new CaltexGO app, a S$10 fuel voucher is available for those who install and make their first transaction with the new app.
The terms and conditions include a minimum spend of S$20 via in-app payment with any Citibank, HSBC, OCBC, Standard Chartered and Trust credit/ debit cards, or GrabPay.
Other banks’ Visa/ Mastercard credit card holders will get S$5 off their in-app payment with a minimum spend of S$20.
