SFA recalls batch of bread imported from China for undeclared milk
Milk is an allergen that has to be declared on the packaging according to Singapore's food regulations.
The Singapore Food Authority (SFA) has recalled Bestore RTE Mini Bread Prepacked, imported by Green Olive Group Pte Ltd, after detecting milk in it.
According to a media release on Dec. 24, SFA said that milk was not declared on the food packaging label.
Milk is an allergen that could result in allergic reactions in individuals who are sensitive to it, said SFA
Under Singapore’s food regulations, food products containing ingredients known to cause hypersensitivity must be declared on food packaging labels to protect consumers with food allergies.
The affected products are imported from China, weighing 330 grams, with a production date of Oct. 10, 2024.
No immediate health risk
According to the SFA, milk generally does not pose a food safety issue for consumers except for those who are intolerant or allergic to it.
Those who have purchased the affected products and are intolerant of or allergic to milk are advised not to consume them.
Nonetheless, those who have consumed the products and are concerned should seek medical advice, added SFA.
Consumers may contact their point of purchase for enquiries.
