Australian man, 36, charged for allegedly telling cabin crew at Changi Airport he wanted to crash the plane
He will face two counts of using threatening words causing alarm.
A 36-year-old Australian man will be charged on Dec. 9 for allegedly telling a cabin crew on a flight departing Changi Airport that he wanted to crash the aircraft.
According to the Singapore Police Force (SPF), investigations revealed that the man had allegedly told the cabin crew when he was boarding the flight on Nov. 23.
The man was disembarked from the plane and escorted to the holding room, where he allegedly said he wanted to crash the aircraft again.
"The Police treat all security threats seriously and will not hesitate to take action against anyone who causes public alarm with false threats," said SPF.
"Beyond the fear and inconvenience caused to other members of the public, the making of false threats comes at a cost, in the extensive public resources that have to be deployed to deal with incident."
The man will be charged with two counts of using threatening words causing alarm.
If convicted, he faces a fine of not exceeding S$5,000.
