Leaders of Israel, M'sia, Ukraine & others congratulate Trump on US election victory

The leaders of Israel and the UK also spoke to Trump over the phone.

Leaders of various countries around the world have begun to congratulate President-elect Donald Trump on his victory in the 2024 U.S. presidential election.

Israel's PM congratulates Trump on "history's greatest comeback"

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu congratulated Trump on Nov. 6, describing his victory as "history's greatest comeback" in a statement on social media, and signing off as "in true friendship".

Netanyahu's office also claimed that he was among the first few world leaders to call Trump over his victory, the Times of Israel reported.

During the call, which lasted about 20 minutes, both parties agreed to work together for Israel's security and also discussed the "Iranian threat", according to Netanyahu's office.

Malaysia's PM also congratulates Trump for "remarkable political comeback"

Malaysia's Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim also congratulated Trump for his "remarkable political comeback" and victory in the election.

Striking an optimistic tone in his message, Anwar described Trump's election as a "new chapter" with renewed opportunities.

He highlighted how the U.S. is Malaysia's largest source of foreign investment a vital player in the Asia-Pacific region, and called for renewed engagement with Southeast Asia.

Anwar also urged the U.S. to use its "considerable influence" to help end the violence and loss of life in Palestine and Ukraine.

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy recalls meeting with Trump on ending Russia's invasion

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy congratulated Trump on his "impressive election victory".

In his message, Zelenskyy recalled his meeting with Trump in September, when they discussed the "strategic partnership" between the two countries and how to put an end to Russia's aggression against Ukraine.

He added:

"I appreciate President Trump’s commitment to the 'peace through strength' approach in global affairs. This is exactly the principle that can practically bring just peace in Ukraine closer. I am hopeful that we will put it into action together."

Zelenskyy also voiced optimism for an era of a "strong" U.S. under Trump's leadership "decisive" leadership, as well as personally congratulating the President and strengthening Ukraine's strategic partnership with the U.S.

"We rely on continued strong bipartisan support for Ukraine in the United States," Zelenskyy said.

UK's PM says he looks forward to working with Trump

As for the UK's Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, he said in his congratulatory message, "I look forward to working with you in the years ahead."

Starmer described the U.S. and UK as the "closest of allies", and added that both countries stood shoulder-to-shoulder in defence of shared values such as freedom, democracy and enterprise.

He wrote:

"I know that the U.S.-UK relationship will continue to prosper on both sides of the Atlantic for years to come."

Starmer added he subsequently called Trump to congratulate him on the election.
