In the video, which has more than 100,000 views, a wild boar can be seen taking a black bag from the ground.

"Return my belongings to me," a woman wailed in Mandarin as onlookers milled around.

It is unknown if the woman was the person filming.

The person filming then chased the boar for a shot distance, into an area with trees and shrubs.

It is unknown if the woman retrieved her bag.

The TikTok tagged its location as Singapore, and included hashtags such as #sgtiktok and #sg in its caption.

Unfamiliar landscape

However, the video's background doesn't exactly match Singapore's landscape.

The background of the video clearly depicts a bay, surrounded by tall land formations.

When the was seen running into shrubbery, a mountain ridge can be seen behind the trees.

These unfamiliar landscapes corroborate the fact that the video was likely not taken in Singapore.

Upon closer inspection

The account who posted the video, xiiaodii, also claims in his bio that most of his videos are taken from the internet, and might not be recent or current.

However, if you do encounter a wild boar here in Singapore, this is what you should do, according to NParks.

  • Be calm and move slowly away from the animal. Do not approach or attempt to feed the animal.
  • Keep a safe distance and do not corner or provoke the animal i.e. by using a flash while taking pictures of it.
  • If you see adults with young piglets, leave them alone. These are potentially more dangerous because they may attempt to defend their young.
  • Do not touch or pick up any sick or dead wild boars.
