A few flights from Singapore to Bali have been affected following the eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki Laki on the Indonesian island of Flores.

The eruption has been ongoing for almost two weeks since Nov. 3.

The volcano, which is about 500km from Bali, has spewed out an ash cloud about nine kilometres high on Nov. 10, according to The Guardian.

Easterly winds have carried the volcanic ash to Bali and northern Australia, resulting in the flight disruptions following the Nov. 10 eruption.

A check on the website of Bali airport showed that flights to and fro Singapore on Jetstar and Tigerair have either been delayed or cancelled due to the eruption.

According to The Straits Times (ST), several Scoot flights to Bali and Lombok have been affected and the airline is assisting affected customers to make alternative plans or refund.

Two Singapore Airlines flights were also affected on Nov. 12 and Nov. 13 due to the eruption, ST reported.

The Jakarta Post reported that the Indonesian authorities have imposed a danger zone up to nine kilometres from the summit of the volcano.

Nine people have been killed since Nov. 3 and as of Nov. 10, about 11,445 people have been evacuated.
