With Trump expected to win Alaska's and Maine's congressional electoral votes, this will give Trump the 270 electoral votes he needs and closes off his Democratic opponent Kamala Harris's pathways to victory.

It should be noted that at this time, the outcome is the result of a projected victory from news networks, such as Fox News, with official results only likely to be released in the coming days.

The Pennsylvania race, and Trump's victory, was first projected by Fox News, as reported by Reuters.

But with The New York Times projecting that Harris is likely to lose all seven swing states, North Carolina and Georgia have already been called for Trump, it is almost impossible for her to win at this point.

This draws to an end a vitriolic and contentious election period, with an uncertain future ahead.
