Trump nominates WWE co-founder Linda McMahon to head Education Dept
A McMahon in every corner.
U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has announced that Linda McMahon, co-founder of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and wife of alleged sex offender Vince McMahon, will serve in his cabinet as the next Secretary of the Department of Education.
Trump said in a statement on Nov. 20, 2024 (Singapore time) that McMahon will spearhead the effort to send education "back to the states", the Wall Street Journal reported.
It's a hint that Trump may not be abandoning his campaign pledge to abolish the Department of Education.
McMahon previously served in the previous Trump administration as the head of the Small Business Administration, following a failed campaign to be elected Senator of Connecticut in 2012.
McMahon has long been associated with pro-wrestling giant WWE, having been married to famed promoter Vince and being the mother-in-law of current WWE creative head Paul Levesque, better known as the pro wrestler Triple H.
McMahon was involved in a number of on-air storylines during her time with the WWE, including an appearance at WrestleMania 17 in 2001, where she kicked her husband in the groin.
Vince is currently the subject of a civil lawsuit filed by Janel Grant, a former WWE employee, who alleged that she was the victim of sex trafficking, sexual abuse and exploitation.
He denies all the allegations and maintains his innocence.
