Tony Leung is now Dr Tony Leung.
This was after the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) awarded the legendary Hong Kong actor an honorary doctorate in humanities on Nov. 23.
Leung's wife, Carina Lau, posted numerous photos of Leung in a red gown and cap on her Instagram, with the caption, "Congratulations."
Leung was among three others who received honorary doctorates from HKUST.
In a press release by HKUST, the university's council chairman commended the four awardees, stating that they had not only achieved "unprecedented feats charting new territory in their professional fields, but they have also demonstrated selfless devotion and remarkable foresight for the greater good of humanity".
"They are all role models for our flourishing university community, inspiring all members to push the boundaries of wisdom and knowledge in this transformative era."
Leung is the first actor to win the Best Actor award at the Hong Kong Film Awards, the Golden Horse Awards, and the Golden Rooster Awards.
He was also the first Asian actor to receive the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the Venice Film Festival in 2023.
Leung is famous for his roles in numerous Hong Kong dramas and for starring in Marvel's "Shang-Chi and the Legend of Ten Rings" in 2021.
During his acceptance speech, Leung pointed out that while he never went to university, he shared some things he learned in "the school of life".
"A true artist lets his intuition lead when the opportunity presents itself and tries to react unthinkingly. You should then do your best to let go and not do it for fame or money or whatever else you can think of.
Most of all, love what you do. Have passion. It's not an easy path but for me, it is very rewarding."
