A man was in for a rude shock after buying toast at a coffeeshop in Novena.

In a Facebook post shared on Nov. 14, user Michael Poh said that he had bought a toast set at the Kopitiam outlet in Tan Tock Seng Hospital and later found that his order did not appear as it should.

"Good knife skills though"

In his post, Poh said that the bread came sliced into two pieces.

"Super thin, and it wasn't even toasted," he wrote.

Although the untoasted bread appeared thin and flat, its butter and kaya fillings were still visible.

Poh had paid S$3.50 for the set, which comes with a cup of coffee.

Despite the experience, Poh commended the seller's "good knife skills".

"Wonder what kind of knife they used...," he said.

Netizens react

The post garnered mixed reactions from other Facebook users.

One said that the practice is "normal", even for other coffee shop chains and suggested that hawker centre stalls are cheaper.

Another said that the worker might have been new.

Other users commented that it is "shrinkflation", and noted that the butter within the toast still can be seen.
