Man complains tents in East Coast Park on weekends used for carnal pleasure, others tell him to not be jealous
Commenters tell him to get a life.
A man, who has been seeing tents erected in East Coast Park on weekends for a long time now, has taken to Facebook to complain about the phenomenon.
He wrote: "Do you notice, every weekend, along ECP, parks, open spaces, there are hundred or tents?"
He characterised these "fully covered" camps as "sex camp" and that they are "cheaper than booking a hotel room".
His gripe also included the observation that the camping activities have been happening for so long and that it is taking place in "a public recreation area meant for families activities".
He also pointed out that the tents were occupied by foreign workers.
Responses
Responses to the man's post were generally in favour of leaving the campers alone, given the limited space in Singapore for some segments of society to hang out.
Commenters pointed out that the man's accusations were also unwarranted, as he cannot ascertain for a fact that all the campers were engaged in illicit or sexual activities.
Moreover, most of the tents were in close proximity to one another and the materials they are made out of are thin.
Others also wrote that the campers had already erected the tents with the purpose of staying out of the public eye.
Some suggested that the man should not be jealous and he ought to get a life.
This was so as the campers are said to remove their tents at the end of the day, without staying by the beach overnight.
However, concerns were raised that the camping activities do contravene the regulations pertaining to park use by park goers, as not all areas in East Coast Park are open for camping.
Currently, there are two designated camping areas in East Coast Park, for example, and campers must apply for a free camping permit in advance to stay overnight.
