Teen, 15, arrested for suspected involvement in loan shark harassment in Yishun & Bedok
Graffiti was sprayed on the walls and floor of the units.
A 15-year-old teenager was arrested for his suspected involvement in two cases of loan shark harassment, police said in a Nov. 22 statement.
Police were alerted to the cases of loan shark harassment at two residential units, the first along Yishun Street 22 on Nov. 20, and the second along Chai Chee Road on Nov. 21.
The incidents
Red paint was splashed on the main door and gate of the units, while graffiti was sprayed on the walls and floor.
A debtor’s note was pasted on the wall at the Chai Chee Road unit in Bedok.
It read:
"Eh uncle you think O$ no need pay ya? Eh I tell you this time is paint your house next time is go pasar (market) paint for you. I tell you better come out pay$. This time paint next time will burn your house! Contact me now"
Charged in court on Nov. 23
Officers from Woodlands and Bedok Police Division established the identity of the teenager and arrested him on Nov. 22.
He will be charged in court on Nov. 23.
Police advised members of the public to avoid loan sharks and not to work with or assist them.
Those who suspect or know of anyone who could be involved in loan sharking activities should call the police at "999".
