S'pore couple gets married at Timezone arcade, where they had many dates together
Straight out of a movie.
For many, Timezone is a symbol of entertainment.
But for one couple in Singapore, the arcade means much more than that.
It represents the milestones of their relationships, countless hours of dates, and fun experiences.
So when it was time to choose a wedding venue, it was an almost natural choice to host it at the place which holds the most significance to them— Timezone.
Sharing the same fun experience
"Many of our dates were spent playing in Timezone," Nicole told Mothership, sharing the importance of the arcade for her and her husband, Yuhan. Both declined to reveal their surnames.
Coincidentally, one of the few outlets large enough for Yuhan and Nicole to have their wedding is Jurong Point, the first Timezone outlet they visited as a couple.
"We thought why not have our wedding at Timezone and share that same fun experience [we had] with our friends and families?"
First time anyone had a wedding in Timezone in Asia
Most of their loved ones responded in kind— "can meh?!"
It was almost unheard of for a couple to host their wedding at an arcade, at least in Singapore.
In fact, when Yuhan and Nicole approached Timezone to book the arcade for their wedding, they quickly learned it was the first time anyone had ever held a solemnisation and wedding at a Timezone outlet in Asia.
"But it all worked out well because we had extremely supportive friends and family who helped us plan and run the entire event," Nicole shared.
Executing the perfect wedding
Timezone was also "extremely helpful" in supporting Yuhan and Nicole to plan and execute the perfect wedding.
In particular, one of the Timezone staff, Denise, helped the couple plan their wedding months in advance and put in "extra efforts" to get approval for all the small details of their solemnisation and wedding.
"Each and every one of the staff was super proactive and helpful and contributed to the success of the entire wedding," shared a grateful Nicole.
"Everything went smoothly without any hiccups"
Recalling her wedding day, Nicole shared that it was a "busy day but everything went smoothly without any hiccups".
Nicole gave a nod to another Timezone staff, Jo, who "went above and beyond" to ensure the couple were "safe, happy, and well-fed" throughout the wedding.
Being one of the larger arcade chain outlets, Jurong Point Timezone has a drift car track large enough for Nicole and Yuhan to have a "drift-in" in place of the traditional march-in.
"Many thanks to our friends who helped to coordinate, plan, and decorate the venue," said Nicole.
"We are also grateful to our solemniser, for making his way down to Timezone and officiating our wedding in such an unconventional space."
"And of course, again, the Timezone team, both on the ground operation and those behind the scenes who helped make this event happen."
