A man in South Korea allegedly wrapped his deceased father's body in plastic and hid it inside a freezer for over a year.

According to The Korea Herald, he did so due to "unspecified inheritance issues".

Local police from Gyeonggi Province are now investigating the man in his 40s on charges of concealing a corpse, reported Maeil Business Newspaper.

Allegedly hid father's body in freezer

The man visited the father's home in September 2023 and found that he had passed away, reported The Korea Herald.

He then allegedly wrapped the body in plastic and hid it in a freezer in his house, according to Maeil Business Newspaper.

Meanwhile, relatives reported the father as missing to the police.

Turned himself in

The man turned himself in on Nov. 1 and the police found the body of the deceased father inside the man's home.

He told police that he committed the crime due to "inheritance issues."

However, officials did not elaborate on the matter, as the case is still being investigated.

Initial investigations did not reveal evidence of the suspect killing his father or defiling the body in any way, reported The Korea Herald.

An autopsy of the body will be done to determine the exact cause and time of death.
