S'pore's 1st adventure-based zoological park Rainforest Wild Asia to open in March 2025
It will feature Malayan tigers, sun bears and langurs, as well as subterranean cave chambers.
Singapore's fifth zoological park, Rainforest Wild Asia, is set to open in March 2025, featuring animals such as Malayan tigers, sun bears and langurs.
Rainforest Wild Asia is a 13-hectare park, and it marks the first phase of the opening of Rainforest Wild.
Visitors will be able to trek through a rainforest setting, experience the verdant tree canopies, subterranean cave chambers, scrambling paths, and guided climbing adventures.
Regional species of animals, such as tigers, sun bears, tapirs and gregarious langurs, will be able to roam through the extensive habitats, allowing visitors to get up close and personal with the wildlife and see how different animals thrive in distinct rainforest settings.
Flexible habitats
The park seeks to introduce flexible habitats for the very first time.
Different animals, such as red dholes and babirusas, will be featured at various times of the day, encouraging natural behaviours while allowing visitors to observe these behaviours, creating meaningful educational experiences.
It will be home to 29 iconic animal species, including new-to-Singapore species, such as the threatened François' langur and the Philippine spotted deer.
Close to 7,000 Southeast Asian trees and shrubs have been planted to supplement the existing protected patches of rainforest.
Fun for everyone
Families, including those with strollers and wheelchair users can experience the park through wide elevated walkways with sheltered rest stops.
Guests can also choose to venture along forest trails scattered with fallen logs, boulders, streams and bridges.
Adrenaline junkies can also purchase harnessed experiences and guided tours offering high-element traverses across rock faces, freefall jumps and challenging caving adventures.
Different zones
Visitors can navigate the multi-layered rainforest across 10 different zones.
The Karst
Jagged limestone formations peek through the rainforest canopy, home to several primates that visitors can spot swinging amongst the trees.
You can also cross the sheer cliffs along a via ferrata path on a guided tour.
Rock Cascade
Home to the Malayan tiger, guests will have to first duck below fallen trees or climb over logs to view the felines.
The tiger's habitat includes waterfalls, streams, rocky outcrops and clusters of trees.
The Canopy
Visitors can encounter species like the Javan langur and red-shanked douc langur swinging amongst the trees.
The Cavern
Inspired by the Mulu caves in Sarawak, The Cavern, a collaboration with Sarawak Forestry Department, recreates the ancient rock formations.
Visitors can venture into the caves through subterranean walkways or side paths to seek through cave species like racer snakes and giant black scorpions.
Rainforest Wild Africa
The next phase of Singapore's fifth zoological park will be Rainforest Wild Africa.
It is inspired by the diverse landscapes of the Afro-Tropical region and Madagascar.
